The Importance Of Visiting A Dentist During Pregnancy

Hello, my name is Karla Madison and this is my blog about the importance of dental care during pregnancy. When I was pregnant with my second child, my gums would bleed when I brushed my teeth. I went to my dentist and he told me that I had pregnancy gingivitis. He also informed me that this is a common condition for pregnant women because their hormones are changing during pregnancy. I followed the instructions of my dentist and my gums stopped bleeding and were healthy again. I also started doing research about the importance of dental care during pregnancy. If you're pregnant, you should read this blog to learn why it's so important to keep up with dental care while pregnant. This blog will give you the information you need so that you can have healthy teeth and gums during your pregnancy.

How To Prepare For Sedation Dentistry

by Rose Hale

If you're about to undergo sedation dentistry you may be a little apprehensive. Many people have fears about seeing their dentist, and hearing that they will need sedation dentistry often makes them anxious. The best way to curb your anxiety is to know as much as possible about how to prepare for sedation dentistry ahead of time. Here's a look at the key things you need to remember.

Fluids Help

Drink as much fluid as you possibly can the day before your sedation dentistry appointment. Remember that you will not be able to drink any water on the day of the sedation. Make sure that you are fully hydrated by taking the opportunity to drink as much water as you can before.

Keep Your Stomach Empty

Try not to eat anything before your sedation. This often means that you should have nothing after midnight. In this way, your stomach will be empty. This is important because when you are undergoing sedation you may experience nausea and some people do have minimal vomiting if their stomach is full. This can sometimes be dangerous.

Have Someone Take You Home

Another step you should take is to have someone drive you home after the appointment. Once you come out of the dental office, you may still be feeling groggy. It will not be safe for you to drive yourself home. Arrange to have someone drive you to your appointment and pick you up when the appointment is completed. You need to make sure that your day is left open for the procedure. Do not plan any activities or go to work on that day.

Dress as Comfortably as Possible

Try to dress as comfortably as possible for your appointment. Since you will be going under sedation you will be asked to lie down for however long the procedure lasts. You want to make sure that you are wearing comfortable clothes so that you can relax without feeling that your clothes are binding or scratching you in any way.

People are often apprehensive about going to the dentist. Sedation dentistry offers those who are nervous about certain procedures the opportunity to be asleep or extremely relaxed when dental procedures are taking place.

As you can see, you do not need to do much to prepare for the procedure ahead of time. Drink plenty of fluids the night before, make sure your stomach is empty on the day of the procedure, wear comfortable clothes, and have a designated driver drive you home.
